ValueAligned® Investing from BerkAdvisory

Simple. Transparent. Aligned.

What can BerkAdvisory do for me?

We strive to provide structure, peace of mind, and an in-depth portfolio strategy.  To simply invest without a goal, the risk of an investment could be increased. The strategy of Rapidan Capital is designed to provide the structure, integration, and discipline that your savings deserve.

Where is the money held and am I protected?
BerkAdvisory is your money manager, not your custodian.  You choose where you would like assets to be held.  Most separately managed accounts are held at Folio Advisor.  But some investors simply give BerkAdvisory the investment power at their favored custodian.  Some of our clients hold their assets at Wachovia, a part of Wells Fargo.  Others hold their assets at Pershing, a division of the Bank of New York Mellon.

Is my money pooled with others?

No. Each account is separate and distinct from one another. Our separately managed accounts are not a pooled fund, partnership, or any other form of consolidated fund.  Note: we do manage partnerships for qualified individuals and companies, but we will manage your money in a separate account. What is your investment philosophy?

We believe that the best way achieve the optimal long-term, real-life after-tax returns is through the direct ownership of shares of great companies who are aligned with the creation of shareowner value.  The shares of these ValueAligned® companies are always bought at a discount to our estimate of "fair value" and sold at pre-determined "sell above" prices.

How often will I be notified of changes to my account?
A printed confirmation statement is mailed within 24 hours of a transaction to your account. A monthly report is mailed from your custodian summarizing transactions for the month.

Using your personal account access through the Folio Advisor site, or another custodian's site, you can see account values and trades almost as they happen.

What is the Rapidan Capital, LLC fee?

1% of assets managed billed to each account quarterly in advance.  You will also be responsible for any commissions or custodial fees.  If you open an account at Folio Advisor there is only one flat fee of less than $300 per year - and no other commissions.

Are taxes considered in your money management?

Since we serve individuals and their families, most of our clients pay taxes on their investment income and capital gains.  The primary goal is to deliver strong, risk-adjusted, after-tax returns. But due to our strict risk-reducing selling process at "sell above" prices, taxable gains may result.

Toward the end of the year, we will review gains and losses to determine if capital gains taxes are owed and if tax-loss selling - to offset those gains - is possible.  In addition, a realized gain and loss report will be provided at any time should you wish to direct us to make any trades as it may apply to your personal tax situation outside of your Rapidan accounts.

We are not tax advisors and cannot give tax advice, but we are eager to work with you and/or your accountant to minimize taxes and maximize the return that you keep.
